Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II - Page 137

Bring this thread back on topic...

Friend: "What? Why do you need so many [headphones]? Just buy one more expensive good one!"

Me: *explains the concept of headphone sound signatures and how different headphones sound good with different genres*

Friend: "-...well, I still don't get it."

Me: "Ok...-"

... High end?... Seriously?... Its not like JVC hasn't made 800$ headphones before... You seriously are going based off of brand rather than quality?... I sense a large case of bias... Plus, I would never buy Bose or beats. Don't know where you got that idea from...

I had a similar exchange with a friend. She was like, what kind of creep buys so many headphones? I ask if she only drinks one flavor of wine. It's the same idea with headphones.

calm down..was not talkin bout u..but just some brands in general geared to a the mass public... am not biassed..i actually owned bose once..so i know what i am talkin bout....but also know audeze, stax and he500/he6 are for sure higher end phones..thats a simple fact..and ofcours3 there are others or models of other brands considered higher end..that has nothing to do with being biassed...imho ofcourse

And once again, i wasnt talking bout u speficially..it just happens that brand was talked bout a lot lately..so i used it as example..i know in the past jvc made nice phones.

I don't think JVC make high-end headphones anymore. They're better than beats but I wouldn't consider them to even be mid-fi phones. My HE500s and HD600 would probably be mid-fi. This is just based of the JVC SZ2000 I've had recently. They're good for hip hop with sub-bass tones but that's about it. Will probably be selling them soon as I don't listen to hip hop nearly enough to justify keeping.

I did that to one of my friends and my brother's friend. But the problem is, he can't tell the difference between a Grado and a XBA! T.T

you dont always have to explain yourself.

whenever someone asks me why i have so many headphones, i just respond with "because i like them"..

Well, in my experience, all of my JVC IEMs have been great. Durable, affordable (relatively, since I got them on sale), and they sound pretty good (especially those FRD80, my what a earphone).

But, yeah, it's the one guy lol. I do love the JVC sound so I can see why he might be loving them.

most of the times i say: because i am nuts...but people who know me dont even ask it..they know i am..or think it...
Seriiusly..i just let them listen and never mention prices..funny is that after they lizten to it for a while with eyes closed and saying omg or wow..they almost always guess it doesnt cost 500usd...and they are okay with that then..and go back to litstening as long i let them..
no joke..people who like music react all the same way..no matter their own budget..they do admit that they will never buy stuff like mine, because of the price!..but liking they do! Even the ones who said i am nuts buying such a huge rediculus phone and an headphone amp u get back aches when lifting and which is not portable..oh the horror..yes..even them..lolz

My mother and I were at our local future-shop here in Canada and she remarked that she liked the B&W P5 headphones over the P7's. Good taste! I also tried both on as well and enjoyed them an awful lot. I was surprised that she liked the cheaper model better though. We both disliked the P3's, for what its worth. :D

Only JVC lover?... No... Only JVC lover on this thread?... Yep. Pretty much... I get reactions to a 110$ setup quite often enough to post here. Just today, a person asked what my amp does... I told him to give me his 30$ Sony's so he'd have a frame of reference that he is familiar with, so he wouldn't be blindly testing it. He noted bass was improved, and that the loudness was exponentially increased. I told him it costs 60$, and for his headphones an FiiO E6 would be all he'd probably need. I had a random teacher ask what that box was... They thought it was a phone charger. I told them its an amp, and they seemed intrigued by it. I talked to them for about 5 minutes, making sure not to hit a point of disinterest by stating too many technical details.
