I can't imagine there are too many 18 year olds over at Summit-fi!
Maybe that's because younger members here have no bills to pay and thus allowing more saving per month. If you start saving from say 14 to 18, that's actually quite a lot of cha Ching and enough to buy some expensive toy xD

I agree^  There are quite a few teens with Stax set ups.  The same thing happens on other forums (young people with expensive computers or Airsoft guns) because they have no bills to play and don't have to provide for themselves

I still won't pay too much for a pair of headphone though... Nothing more than $500 for each purchase xD trying to control myself so that when I grow up and got a job, I have a reason to go hardcore... biggrin.gif and who knows! By then Sennheiser decided to being back their HE90

I have a friend who's staying here... I asked him to try my Grado... He didn't even dare to...

One of those people would be me :o

Too bad that I now have to replace the tubes in my T1, and risk killing myself at eighteen with high voltage doing so, all in the name of audio nirvana ;)

Why is that?

Be careful, I made a silly decision when I did that, and almost blew my system up. I didn't know any better..

The left channel in my T1 is going out, so I'm assuming the problem is with the tubes dying since they've never been replaced before, and it's the only thing I can really fix. If that's not the issue, I'm screwed.

Oh I remember those days of yore, being young and pockets full of money.

Nowadays it's mortgage payments and bills... :(

I'm working with one of these bad boys here:

These things have a voltage of 340V, which is pretty dangerous to work with because electrical current can easily kill you by fibrillating or stopping your heart at as low as 40-50V.

They even have a sticker on the back warning you to not open the amp because of the voltage.

SELF-REALIZATION POST

When I moved from a XB-700 to a HE-400 I really didn't hear a big difference. I thought the HE-400 was a good headphone but I thought it wasn't a large improvement over the XB700. I went back to the XB-700 about 3 weeks later and oh my god; it sounded abysmal. Upgrading from the HE-400 to a LCD-2 I thought the same thing but after listening for a while and revisiting some songs I can say that the LCD-2 is worth it and brought details out of songs the HE-400 couldn't come close to. This is my end game set-up. Hopefully when I go to college next year I can wow my room mates :^)

My brother is a recent convert after being a skeptic for a few months. He first saw me with my 325's driving one day and said "you look like an idiot, in a car with headphones on...." He continued to ridicule me for a bout a week asking little questions here and there. You could tell he was interested by the kinds of questions he was asking, but finally I let him hear it. ALAC tom tom club, genius of love and money for nothing by dire straits. The quality of those two tracks paired with the grado 325 was life changing for him. You could see it on his face , I'll never forget his expression.

Don't feel bad, I was pretty vague in my post, and it was an easy mistake to make if you weren't paying a lot of attention to the context. :o
