Should have started shipping today according to the email I got.

And no, it was not a shipping notification just an update for those of us that ordered one.

it is a good idea to wait for a while. Maybe they are updating other products too. (oh, my 3 month old Asgard...)
 

As for Lyr, I went across some negative reviews. They are mainly talk about features and problems like hiss. Based on their products and way of doing business, I think Schiit is getting mature, but it will take some time before it is.

Hiss with the Lyr sounds more like you're either trying to use way too sensitive cans with a rather powerful amp or you're using noisy tubes, not an actual problem with the amp.

And Asgard 2 will be shipping shortly. We're giving them an extended burn-in to make sure the new thermal mount is 100% perfect. So far, it performs better than the original. We're just being over-cautious. I expect you'll see a lot of them out by the end of the week.

Smart man, I know I'll be picking one up when I get my tax refund! Dunno if that's marketing genius or just a beneficial coincidence, either way well done!

I have been looking around and found the LCD-2s need 2 Watts without clipping to bring out all of their potential. I don't know if it is true but i had my LCD-2s paird with the Asgard 1. This compo was nice but i felt something still lacking especially in bass range (not with others such as Denon, Beyer..)

So i am planning to get a new Mjolnir but the amp's price and new balanced cable always make me shy Does the statement "uncomfortably close to a Mjolnir" include the power-hungry orthos or just conventional headphones? Do you have any near scheme of releasing a new SS product which in between Asgard 2 and Mjolnir in term of output power and cost?

I'd give the Lyr a wack if you thought the Asgard didn't have enough power unless you're absolutely sure you want SS.  Lyr was made for that sort of power and I know just how good that combo is. And it saves you the hassle of the balanced route (money wise) at least until you catch a nasty case of upgradeitis.

This is why I went with the Lyr! DAT POWAAA!!!

Does anyone have any experience with the HE-500 and the Asgard?

Does it drive them sufficiently, i.e. nothing feels lacking.

I'd recommend going with a Lyr or Mjolnir for orthos, the asgard or magi will do just fine but you might miss a little.

I did try my HE-500s on my Asgard and then plugged them right back into my Lyr. It didn't sound bad, but it didn't "drive" dynamic swings like the lyr. Maybe with 10 more volts on the Asgard2 it will.

I listened to the HE-500s on both the Lyr and the Mjolnir--and much preferred the warmth of the Lyr.  The Lyr tames the brightness of the HE-500, while the Mjolnir accentuates it.  If the Asgard 2 is anything like the Mjolnir, it would be good choice if you like a bright forward signature and maybe not so good if you're looking for a neutral to warm signature with the HE-500s.

^^ true...but for hp's like the hd650, the A2 might just be the ticket. Thanks for your help btw...many thanks.
