I found the pad mod to increase the tightness of the bass, more specifically by decreasing some of the boomy-ness. Performing the Dynamat mods on the drivers increases this effect. I fully Markl-modded a pair of D5000s (Dynamat drivers and Fiberloft pads), and while the bass sounded much more accurate, I felt it took away much of the fun factor of the headphones. When I got the D7000s, modding the pads alone was a nice compromise.
I am thinking of just taking the Fiberloft out now, as I've already had two messages from folks concerned with removing it themselves. Its fairly easy to redo the mod, so I may just edit the auction and remove the Fiberloft. I believe you are allowed to retract your bid since it would technically change the auction.
These headphones were purchased about two years ago online, though I don't remember the website. They haven't seen much use since I switched from a solid state amp to a Decware tube amp as my main, and I found the amp to synergize better with Sennheisers.
