vsonic gr07 visual distinctions between versions?

I just received a pair of Vsonic GR07 Mk2 from ebay.  The bass is much, much thicker than what I expected from descriptions I'd read.  It makes me wonder, is there a way to tell the difference between GR07 Mk1, Mk2, and Bass Edition by looking at the headphones?  Does the Bass Ed. always have red stripes candycaned on the cable? 

 

The ones i received have raised lettering on the outside of the plastic square that sits in your ear, reading "GR07 WALKAUDIO".  The packaging says MK2 but looked like it may have been opened before.  The overall quality is, at first contact, pretty good and I don't think this is the kind of brand that would get counterfeited, so I'm mostly worried I got the BE instead of the intended MK2.

Most of the time the packaging looks like it's been opened, mine arrived unsealed, bits of what looked like saw dust inside the box all over the black velvet like material. It's just the way they come. I'm pretty sure if the cable does not have red swirly strips through it etc they will be MK2. The MK2 cable has silvery strips through it like this...



Let them burn in for a while, see if it helps though everything you're describing leans towards MK2.

That isn't a Vsonic in your pic right, just an example?  Mine def have the silver swirly thing in full effect.  Plus, I'm coming from Etymotic HF3 so maybe anything would sound bass heavy?

That is an actual Vsonic GR07 MK2 cable in the photo, I think you've hit the nail on the head coming from the HF3, others have reported switching between them GR07 sounds like a sub-woofer compared. I think you need to adjust, which can take an hour or so, and don't worry I constantly fight between warm and bright IEM's drives me crazy.

Best way to adjust is use lower unoffensive volumes for a while. More or less your brain needs to rewire itself because it's so used to the sound of HF3,

Eventually it will learn and not sound so bassy. . tongue.gif

I received received a pair of GR07 BEs and the cable is red candy stripes - from the pics I've seen only the bass editions have the red stripes. 

 

After 50 hours burn-in or so I'm sure you'll love the GR07s.

The GR07s are amazing. I slightly miss the inline controls for my iPhone, but other than that situation they are a listening dream. The bass isn't so extended but it has so much impact that it is a great counterpoint to my HF3s, which I can now send out for repair without missing out on quality sound at work!
