FiiO L11 general use?

Just a quick question, how is this device used? As a LOD connector?
Does it require a charge?

It would be nice if someone could just give me a briefing on this item:)

There is a standard 3.5mm jack which makes line out function possible. Furthermore, there is a mini USB connector which makes the charging and data exchange possible through connecting with USB cable.

Does the item itself require a charge? No?

 

And does it degrade the audio output SQ by any chance if used through an L11?

No you don't require a charge, it's just an adapter. It shouldn't degrade SQ that I'm aware of.

I too am considering one as it would allow me to keep my iPod plugged in while in use. Has anyone done a sound quality test vs the other Fiio LOD's?
