Mono cable into stereo input?

Hey guys,

 

First time doing this, so please correct me if this isn't the right setup. Basically my headphones are hard to drive, so I bought an external amp to connect my laptop to it in order to power my headphones.

 

Laptop->Cable A->Amplifier Stereo input->Amplifier Stereo Output->Cable B->Headphones

 

Cable A is this:

Cable B is the cable that comes with my headphones, Beyerdynamic DT 990. 

 

However cable A is stereo to mono, going into a stereo input on my amplifier. Would this work right or optimally? Thanks :)

Nope, won't work right.  Depending on how the cable is wired you'll get either one or both channels of the PC mixed together to feed the left channel of the amp.  You need stereo cables all the way through.

Thanks, I couldn't find the stereo version of this cable at first so that's why I linked the mono cable, but I found it! This is ok right?
