huh. i saw this 1989 d90 for sale locally for craigslist for 20 bucks. wonder if i should pick it up. i like all metal stuff.

 

i have a sony DNE9 from 2000 something forgot when i bought it. sounded ok. not great. now i use iphone 3gs for all music.

 

question is how does older cd player compare with newer cd player/mp3 players and phones? do they have better sound?

 

I also got a thing for retro stuff.

The Sony D-90 has a decent sound but nothing really to get excited about. The D-90 can't compare to current DAPs and phones as they sound ten times better than the D-90. The D-90 just doesn't have the level of detail or soundstage as current DAPs and phones with quality ripped files. $20 is a good price assuming it's in excellent condition and functions flawlessly. It won't sound as good as current DAPs or phones but would make a nice addition if you're a vintage PCDP collector.

will stick with my iphone instead.

 

even my sony dne9 doesn't sound that good compare to iphone. time to get rid of it i guess. neah just keep it. it's pretty rare lol.
