It was at that point when I had to stop and re-evaluate. The money should have been going to something that we could both enjoy. 

When you feel sad that a youtube music artist you hold quite highly uses a razer headset with her piano...even if it is as nerdbait.

also YKAAW when you are dissapointed with your brother's choice of the razer electra (which is very slightly worse than the beats studio imo, but hey, at least its cheap at only uhh $60? $70? i forgot, but i'd say that the about $100 MS1i that i have totally trashes it to sub atomic particles of gluons and bosons, the Sennheiser HD435 that my other bro got was a lot better, but smacked around quite a bit too by the alessandros. add on note: heck these alessandros are even giving my HD558 a tough fight which genuinely surprised me)

YKYAA when your choice of hairstyle is influenced by the fit/care of your headphones. (I didn't actually get it all shaved off--didn't have the courage--but I did get it cut really short).

That's one consideration (also hat hair and, this time of year, beanie hair). Also, hair that won't stay put behind my ears upsets the fit by keeping me from getting a proper seal.
