^ + this. It's rather slow on Windows but very smooth on Mac but I often uses Windows for my music. Foobar2k works perfect on Windows flawlessly IMO

I still use Winamp, I love the UI. In terms of syncing media I just drag and drop things and sync my .m3u8 playlist files with DropSync for Android.

Another Foobar2000 fan here. Plays pretty much anything and, once you've tweaked the layout to your liking (which can be fiddly for non-experts), great to use.

And, if you are a non-expert, once you have it right for your needs, you can export and save the settings, so you don't have to faff around with it again when you replace your computer.

I only tried WinAmp once, many years ago in its very early days, and couldn't get it to play anything, but looking at the screenshots, it is a very different beast from those early days.

My first PC media player was Sonique - anyone else remember it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonique_(media_player)

I tried WinAmp in the very early days, but couldn't get it to work. Looking at the screenshots, it is evidently a massive step forward from the rather basic player I remember swearing at. I ended up using Sonique - anyone remember it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonique_(media_player)

These days it's Foobar all the way. Simple, undemanding, but plays virtually everything.

I double-posted that, as the original post seemed to disappear, then re-appear once I'd done the second post.

I'm sure I could get Foobar2k and tweak it to my needs but for now I'm set in my ways. Maybe someday I'll decide to get it on a whim and then I'll be saying "I'll never go back to Winamp"
