I'm kinda stuck with this genre in general. I like metal, and I love the intensity. For a long time I found Machine Head to be the epitome of intensity. So many feelings and meaningful transitions.
Then the high-end headphones came, and I realized that my fav band and fav album (the Blackening) was only slightly better production quality than a lot of main stream pop
So many unwanted sounds and pops. Loudness war influences and distortion.
On one hand I like natural sound that doesn't seem altered by the studio - on the other I like what metal can do, despite distortion and bad poruction quality.
I am seeking metal which is properly produced. What I have found so far that I like is:
-Black Sabbath, the older and original albums
-Metallica, the older albums like Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning and also Metallica. Not perfect, but at least it shows some quality and no damn LOUDNESS WAR
I have looked into some albums from Gojira, Darkest Hour, Esoteric, Opeth, Swallow the Sun, Children of Bodom, and Avenged 7x somewhat recently.
Out of these I quite liked the material from Gojira and Swallow the Sun, but I did not really like the production, it is just fairly average, and it sound too processed in the studio with too small dynamic range in general. I will give the a listen occasionally though..
Still with me
?
If so, I am positive you must have a good suggestion
Thank you for your help!
