Sansa Clip + question

I want to pair my clip + with an amp and keep it small and good. But I'm not sure what makes the clip + sound good is it cause it has an awesome dac or good wiring layout or what? So if I amp this thing will it sound better than say an ipod 5.5? The ipod 5.5 sounds so good with an amp cause the wolfson dac. But would the clip+ even be worth amping?

I don't think adding an amp adds anything to a Clip variant unless you need more power or you want to use an amp's bass boost circuit or you like a certain amp's coloration of the sound. 

 

Some people think the Clips sound too bright, so combining them with an E11 which many think sounds a little dark is a popular combination.

I like combining mine with a digiZoid ZO if I am listening to some electronic music, for example.

I'm one that thinks it helps.

Such as widening the congested soundstage giving you more depth, body, helps stop the Clip+ thin out in the upper mids at higher volumes, you'll havemore control. I can hear changes in stereo, detailing, bass tightens up when amping the Clip+. Although it's not my main player if I were to use one fulltime I would be amping it. There's other areas I think improve as well. Considering you have the amp there give it a try come to your own conclusion, each of us are different.
