If his budget is more than $400 I would've mentioned that and FitEar TG!334 lol.

It's a wonderful IEM. I didn't recommend it due to the poor isolation & troublesome fit for many. It's also wood so it would be bet for indoor use.

W4s have excellent soundstage and separation. It has slightly less bass than UM3X.

I find the um3x to have little bass quantity. Even with the other tips provided. My new interest is now the jvc fxz 200. Sounds like this may be the one?

I can't find too many comparisons between IE80 vs JVC FXZ200 vs FX700. The ie8/80 sound is my reference point in terms of how I can compare sound from other users.

Ordered the jvc fxz200 and cks1000 on tenso.

Good picks, when you get them let us know what you think and how they compare to the IE80's.

VSonic GR07 Bass Edition, perhaps? I have auditioned the JVC fxz200's, but own the GR07. I preferred the VSonic in almost every area.

Most definitely. Both look promising. Not that the ie80 doesn't do the job for me...it's just the thrill and joy of finding something similar or better. This is an expensive hobby, and not my only one at that.

What about heir 5 soundstage and bass ?

Did you received them ?

If you like how the IE80 sounds, maybe stick with them. Don't think of it as simply being satisfied and stop looking for better sound. Get a nice amp, DAC, maybr cables if you believe in that. At the level of IE80 and especially if that's good for 95% of your music. Most <$400 iems will probably be nothing more than a sidegrade. Maybe save up for a nice pair of customs or buy related audio gear. I don't have any experience first hand but I read a lot. So this is just what I've gotten from reading maybe 500h+ on this forum.
