Bought this. I am confused in the manual it says '2w@8ohm', but on burson audio's website it says '2w at 16ohm'. Which one is correct?

Website is right

There's a typo on Burson's manual.

Anyone knows the exact damping factor ?

Output impedance: of  <1 Ohm is a bit high right ?

I've read this whole thread and am seriously considering the SL for my HE-500's. If it's 2w@16ohms, what would the output be for the 38ohm HE-500, and would it be enough?

Also considering the Bifrost Uber to pair with the SL... So SL + Bitfrost Uber = $600 + $500 = $1100. (If the Uber upgrade is worth it?)

Or, why not just get the Conductor SL 1793 for $1250 for a cleaner aesthetic one-box solution, (if the built in DAC is as good as Bitfrost?)

I have also considered tube amps like the Lyr or WA-7, but I don't know....... still looking. The one-box solution like the Conductor or WA-7 would fit better on my desktop especially considering the WAF (wife acceptance factor).

Currently using Magni/Modi and want to upgrade to get closer to the HE-500's potential. I could get by on the cheap with my Modi to the SL. I really don't know what to do. Any input would be much appreciated.

I'm on the same boat. HE500 with magni and modi. Also looking at a new DAC and amp. And I want them to look good.

Considered Burson as they have a retailer near me. Emailed them too. But it looks like the SL will just be 1 watt too at around 35 ohms. So that won't be a big upgrade on power alone. I've done research too on the DAC. Consensus so far from what I have read is that the bifrost Uber will be a better DAC.

For 1+ k usd that won't cut it as a big upgrade.

Now I'm looking at the Burson that doesn't have a DAC but that's too costly as well.

Narrowed it down to the bifrost Uber and lyr for now. Maybe the asgard 2 as well since I have IEMs.

Planning to listen to the Burson soon as the retailer nearby may have a demo unit.

The SL and HE500 combination it's very pleasing to listen to, specially if your budget does not allow you to buy amps on the $900-1k range.

As for the one box solution: The advantage is that you can swap DAC modules + Burson newest USB module is as good as the Uber in the schiit's bifrost. A new level of performance to my ears.

I really like my Burson solo sl+ T1, it's so clean and everything is very nature. Feel the T1 is really good balanced. How much is the output for 600ohm?

Not sure about the SL power ratings with 600ohm. May check with Burson

Burson said above 60mw@600ohm, I think this may not correct. It's 2W@16ohm, how can only 60mW@600ohm? A1 says:

100 mW / 600

Ω
170 mW / 250
Ω
150 mW / 30
Ω

this is also wrong.

Will 60mw be enough with headroom to spare ?

I don't know but the classic HA-160 worked well with the T1's and it was inferior in power compared vs the soloist sl.

It works very well, but I suspect if 60mw@600ohm is correct.

I'm reading a lot of disappointment with the LCD3's on the SL and I'm not surprised, because a half watt is not enough for those guys, you really need a full soloist IMHO. I own both the Soloist and the SL and the SL just doesn't do my LCD3's justice. But the SL sure sounds nice with my TH600's.

Good to hear a vote for the Soloist SL + TH600 combo. I'm thinking about a future amp upgrade to go with my th600, and have been weighing up the HPA4 and Woo WA7 along with this SL and others. A one box solution would be ideal really.

I think the HPA4 could be a good office unit but the SL sounds like a better home one, more power and hopefully precision and impact. I have read some mixed things though... I would like something with good soundstage too. Is the DAC section good? Would the regular Soloist be significantly better in either DAC or amp section or is it the same with just more amp power?

I think the WA7 is ruled out its just too expensive for me atm and I'm not that keen on tubes due to how much they colour things.. and also have heard the DAC is a bit sub par in it..

I have the 9018 board in my Conductor SL and it's the same board used in the more expensive Conductor. I really like Burson's application of the Sabre chip by adding their excellent no-IC op amp. It's an extremely smooth and detailed sound.

The Soloist is to the Conductor as Soloist SL is to the Conductor SL, those amps are incorporated into the 1-box solution. In my opinion, the SL has plenty of power to drive the TH600s.
