Hmmm... very interesting product!  I love everything about it except the drop in output.  I am under the impression that the HE-500s that I have my eye on love power, and going from a bit under 4W (at ~30 ohm) to a bit under 2W is a bit of a hit.  If I can get comfortable with 2W for the HE-500 (it isn't like I'm getting HE-6s) then this is definitely the amp for me...

Hmm, probably the power requirements are just enough for it. Lets wait for the impressions from fellow head-fier's

It should be comfortable. Considering the specs on the Burson website, at max, the Baby-Soloist should drive the HE-500 @ 116dB. And for a relatively low THD (<0.03% - 1W @ 30ohms) it should sound @ 114dB. So you have plenty of dynamic.

At the end of the week, I should receive my HE-500. I will post a quick review to say if it's a good match or not (but I think it will ! ;)).

Thanks, fishbone.   I look forward to your thoughts on the pairing...

Just to clarify, I have the Soloist, not the Soloist-SL ! But I guess (and I hope) it delivers the same sound.

It can deliver a similar sound signature but can't deliver the same sound.  It has a different layout and power rating.  You change one thing and the sound will be different.  BTW, love the sound of the Soloist or lack thereof...all I can hear is the beauty of the performance/recording.

You're playing on words (and I'm not that good in english when I need to talk/write) but that's what I meant, sorry :).

Hey,

Here is my little review of the combo Soloist + HE-500.

At first, the unboxing was really good, my HE-500 came with a sturdy case (it is not the zip case anymore). The headphones is quite nicely sitting waiting for you to pick them. With a nice (but quite fragile) silver cable.

It's heavy, the difference between the HE-400 and the HE-500 is noticeable but surprisingly they are not uncomfortable.

Sound-wise, they have the pleather pads pre-installed, I listened to one song, I switched to the velour pads and It was enough for me to never look back at the pleather :).

With the velour the high are stellar, smooth but just hot enough to please my ears.

The mids are quite a phenomenon to me, compare to the LCD-2 which have beautiful mids, they are on the same level of quality but the HE-500's mids are more foreward, which I like a lot !

For the bass, it is punchy, tight and they have a good degree of tactility, nothing to complain.

Overall the HE-500 are transparent, have a good image and are detailed, I found the LCD-2 to be more detailed though.

I found the HE-500 to be quite easy to amp in fact. I can easily drive them with my HA-160D (it is 800mW max into 60Ohms) so the baby-Soloist should drive them easily and if the sound is similar to the Soloisst, I can easily say that this match could be a killer combo and surely one of the best combo on the market...

With the HE-500, the LCD2 and the HD650, my headphones search is (for now) over (and I need to save some cash by the way...). So if you can buy the Baby-Soloist (or even the Soloist) and the HE-500, go for them !

That is a cute little amp. I'm a fan of high quality small amps that have a nice tone.
