Hey! I get through TSA just fine with this - a few questions, but no hassles - they've seen everything.

I finally got a chance to document the Robinette Box build. It works great and I tested it with single-ended headphones with a balanced output Tripath TA2020 amplifier with no ill effects or distortion. The build info is here: http://robrobinette.com/RobinetteBox.htm

Wire colors are: Red is R+  Black is R-  Blue is L+  Green is L-

I finally bit the bullet and bought myself an oscilloscope, but there was no room on my audio rack, so I had to put it on a stand.

Hey Mike, I think you have your phono preamp inputs reversed. :D

I found that photo online a while back.  You have to wonder if that scene wasn't just contrived.  But it might be a legitimate workplace photo. I couldn't find the site from which it came, originally.

I used to be a UPS field service tech.
So I used to see s few every week.
Most we're very orderly.
A few looked like a room full of junk.
The messy one's were normally the size of a small bedroom........rolleyes.gif

Wow it is Amazing how badly data is treated. And yet if it's down that cannot even use a phone
Or work. Lol

Folks:

Anybody ever play with these?:

Lots of power for a reasonably low price per pair.  45-day trial period.  Interesting pro reviews.  There's also an interesting amateur review on Audiogon.

I don't need an amp right now, but if I did, this thing would definitely be in the mix.

500W into 4 ohm... seems like overkill power for a headphone, even the HE-6. With a gain of 30.7dB you're most likely going to be facing noise issues as well.

MMMMM POWER!!!!  ME LIKE POWER!!!!  Remember I'm already using an amp that has 110 wpc into 8 ohms...

Semi-seriously though, yeah, there's lots of extra power there, but we've now got the Robinette Box to tame the power and banish the noise.... Right?

I tested my Aragon BB. it is about the 500 watt at 4 ohms. And it was fine.
No noise but I did the 10 and two ohm in series and the headphone
It gave me attenuation and no noise for me to hear. But I would not use this kind of amp
As one slip and you will vaporize your headphones

Is there a difference between this kind of 500 wpc/4-ohm amp and any other, or should we not use any such amp?  Won't the resisters bring the power down to safe levels for a can like the LCD-3, which can handle ~15 wpc into 45 ohms?
