Well the fuzzy idea that I've been harboring for a long time (and will probably never get to at this rate) was to build an M3 into a briefcase, hack the circuit to do an "active balanced ground" ala Jan Maier, power it with something like an Energizer XP18000 battery pack, and maybe have enough space for a laptop (or tablet and wireless hard drive?) and headphone in the case.

Or maybe put a b22 and s22 into the suitcase instead...

In a suitcase?

With batteries?

Sounds like a fun idea! I would personally go with whatever has the least power consumption for your desired output power. Then I would put in a RaspberryPi/PCDuino (5v <1a consumption) with wifi and JRiver server (now on Linux) and interact with it through whatever phone/tablet you have. Ultra-small, low consumption, high-quality sound, and compatible with all types of devices for true flexibility :) Heck, throw in a small M2Tech USB/SPDIF converter and you're good to go!

Yup, plus active balanced ground like your Stepdance. In fact, part of the idea was to use something like the stepdance to "feed" the external three channel amp (in this case a hacked M3 or b22). I'm combining all your transportable amp fetishes into one Mike!
