Well technically anything you can plug a headphone into has a headphone amplifier but its very far from the $100+ Xonar sound cards which actually have a full blown headphone amplifier built-in that can power even really hard to power headphones.

 

My guess is you'll really like the 770s. They are VERY comfortable. One of the most comfortable headphones ever, IMO.

 

I would also guess that the new sound card will fix your distortion issue.

 

Good luck and congrats on the new purchase you'll probably really like them.

So I got the Xonar DGX today and tried it with the Sennheiser HD 558(I didn't return yet).

 

I changed the settings of the sound card to 32~64 ohms and the sound on max is as loud as my 70% volume on my old on board sound.....

 

Which then I concluded that my on board sound was giving me more OHMS to the headphones that's why I was getting distortions on volumes beyond 70%.

 

I ordered the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro-80 and returned the Xonar DGX and the Sennheiser HD 558.

 

I now realized that my on board sound is capable of driving headphones of up to 150 OHMS.

There still should not be any distortion like that. Try the the higher ohm setting on the sound card which should produce higher volume.
