Good DAC with 1 input and 2 outputs for OSX?

I am seeking a DAC that has 1 line input and 4 line outputs. Preferably can run through ASIO.

 

I have a schiit lyr and powered monitors, so I'd prefer there be no amp component on this device.

 

Does such a thing exist?

 

I'd like this be as cheap as possible, but can spend more if it provides something substantial.

I'd like to keep my lyr and monitors plugged in at the same time.

 

I should correct, when I said 2 line ouputs, I really meant 4 line outputs, as I want to connect both headphones and speakers to it.

Thats what a switcher does. You can keep them plugged in at the same time, and choose which one receives the audio signal.

I use the. Niles AXP-1 input selector. It can also be used in reverse as an output selector. Then buy the DAC that best suits your needs.

That's why I went with the Niles instead of the cheap plastic button switchers that are 1/3 the price because some testimonials did report channel bleed, quality control issues, and other problems with the cheap ones. The Niles is a heady duty metal box, with a solid feeling five selector dial. Feels commercial grade and like it will still be working when I die (lol). Doesn't seem to be any sound degradation to me. I'm running an ODAC as input, Little Dot I+ for headphones, and HK 3390 for my Energy V5.1 speakers. Using Zu Audio Mission cable to connect the DAC to the Niles, and Audioquest G-Snakes to the headphone amp and receiver. Now I am looking to get a good solid state headphone amp to add to the setup. biggrin.gif

Alternatively use a pair of RCA splitters to turn 1 pair of outputs into 2. If you want a good DAC that has multiple outputs check out USB and Firewire audio interfacts, they are used primarily for recording but have good quality converters built in and offer multiple outputs.

 

One of my DACs is a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 which among other inputs and outputs has 6 mono outputs which can be configured in a multitude of ways. The 1/2 pair is controlled by the volume knob on the front but outputs 3-6 are line level outs. They are balanced too. Outputs 3/4 are mirrored on the headphone jack on the front so you can use it as a second headphone amp as well.

Apogee products are very well regarded in the professional audio sector. Should perform excellently. RME is another company to look at, rather pricey in the US prices are much better in Europe.
