Formula 1-fi (Read the First Post!) - Page 59

But the race today was a total killer anyway. And I was so impressed by the production. I was expected the production would follow the mercedes  but instead they focused on the even more intense action at the back of the grid and boy did Hamilton and Nico race hard too!. To the point I was stomping about let watch Lewis and Nico duke it out :). There is so many formula one racesof the past where you just see the leaders parades.

Also with the ERS and when the cars get full power and when it´s recharging and not we just don´t have any clue of anything really. Even less then before. We could pretend before that we could truly tell driver performances apart but it´s not possible nowadays unless they give us all the real time telemetry lol.

Not booring the slightest. GG by Riccardo to once again beat Vettel. Ferrari what an embarrassing display... McLaren just as much. Magnussen need to stop crash into Raikonnen. Maldonado need to stop being Maldonado. But a lot of super impressive racing otherwise. Surprised that Williams wasn´t stronger but great going by Force India.

And what a shock my race prediction didn´t turn out accurate :D

I laughed so hard on this one :D There is no better metaphor to put into it beside "stop being Maldonado".

And what makes it even funnier is that Maldonado moved from Williams to Lotus only to find out that Williams is much quicker (and reliable) than Lotus.

Good lord what a race. Gotta like it when mechanical problems start playing a role again. Been far too long without that element. No Sebastian the championship isn't a gimmie. A few more performances like this and the team will be forced to support Ricciardo:) The Ferrari incredible rotating ratchet seems to be getting worse. No wonder man keeps using Kimi for brakes. Man the Scud needs some new management blood in the worst way.

Mac. Well obviously bringing Ron Denis back was NOT the answer. Funny the two usual top contenders both suffering from Alzheimer Addled management. At least Frank W had the grey matter left to put the daughter in charge.

Force India. Dear god's of Rome and all things racing LET them be a contender all through the year. They might actually be smart enough to figure that for the first half the season they can do really well if they just keep the car in one piece and work the fuel calculations. Take it any way you can get it guys. Let the BIG NAMES play silly bugger till their championship chances dwindle:)

Mercedes dominant after the departure of Brawn??????????????? Perhaps they were the one name brand to figure out the changing of the guard thing.

Best race so far, no question for me. So many team mates fighting wheel to wheel! More of that for the rest of the season, please. I agree with Niki - not boring at all.

With Mercedes showing their true hand, I think this should get rid of the 'Red Bull will catch Mercedes any time now' rumors. Red Bull may catch everyone else, but Mercedes remain so far ahead of the rest I think they'll have the constructor's championship sewn up in record time. I wouldn't be shocked if at this rate we have 1988: Part II, with the only non-Mercedes victory or victories coming due to faults with the mercs.

And did it look to anyone else like the Maldanado collision was looking suspiciously like another case of a low nose submarining? I wonder how long before one of those things causes a serious accident...

The race was not boring at all, but the season might be a bit boring for me. I like seasons where the championship was fought till the very last race, like 2012 to name the latest.

And yes, I think the low nose causes more harm than good. Adrian Newey said that the low nose may cause cars to fly if hit from behind due to the nose get slipped underneath the car.

There for sure was some great racing mid-pack. Though great for real fans like us, the huge gap to Mercedes is probably bad for the sport, casual fans will get bored after a few races. At least I can look forward to the fireworks between Hamilton and Rosberg later this season. If they keep racing like they did this weekend, they're going to crash into eachother one of these days lol.

Cheers man, I updated a few days ago, worked a treat.

Vergne "Crazy that Lotus guy, I don't know who it was. Absolutely mental!"

Croft "That would be Pastor Maldonado then..."

That made me laugh. And of course Pastor's race only improved from then on. I loved the commentators wondering aloud if there was a way to skip straight to 12 points and a race ban.biggrin.gif

Anyone who thinks 2014 is boring doesn't understand F1, or is simply a sore loser, in my opinion. We've had brilliant qualy sessions, teammates testing each other, rookies showing up the old hands, a team orders scandal, technology scandals, and now an absolutely brilliant race. There has been more classic F1 in the first three races of this year than in the entirety of many of the past 12 years.

Bring it on.

Hey Ya'll,

Saw Jude @ the NY Head-Fi Meet and told him I would post this video showing the difference in the engine roar or lack thereof....

This isn't my video - got it from some site... never posted a video before so I hope it works....

Schiit Schiit Schiit!!!!!!

Bernie and the gang has taken it down!!!!!! I just saw it 20 minutes ago!!!!  OK!!!! I found the same one but at a lesser quality.....

catch it before it gets taken down....

and here's my personal shaky vid taken with my iphone 4 in Montreal some years back....

Dunno If I can ever go to another race with this lack of engine roar.... it's not just the sound but the feeling of speed!!!

I might as well get rid of my earplugs!!!!

P.S. Did anyone catch how Rosberg pulled into the #2 spot at the end of the first race in Melbourne even though he had won!!!! LOL!!!!!!

GO!!!!!!!!!!! HAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :L3000:

Thanks for those sound bites. I had read that they were quickly squashed by FOM - good find. While I like the old screaming engines better, I much prefer the power>down force formula and would not choose to go back to the previous 5 years.

I was standing right across the track from you in Montreal. Did you stick it out through the whole 6 hour deluge come race day?

The funny thing about the 1st video is you can clearly see that in 2014 people were not using those ear protector anymore

This just baffles me. Why on earth would anyone prefer a noise level where you have to wear protection to listen? Does anyone say 'I went to the movies recently, and I was so disappointed that the screen wasn't turned up so bright I needed sunglasses?'; no, because that would be silly. I can see liking the old sound better; I can see liking it a bit louder. But when people specifically complain that you don't need ear protection is when they lose me.

It's like what Herueyes said, it's not just about the sound it's about the feeling of speed, and I agree with him.
