Stax Sr-Sigma spares

Hi Folks,

I've been lurking for ages hoping to find a link to someone who can point me in the right direction to new head pads and bands for my two sets of SR-Sigmas (normal bias).  I've had them from new and as you can imagine the bands and pads are looking a bit worn.  They are still comfortable but look a bit tattered. I am using them with a SRD-7 and they still sound wonderful.  My wife and I can both enjoy them as I also have a SRE-15 extension and a SRE-B3.

Any help or advice would be most welcome.

Pete in Toronto

The earpads were available from Stax last I heard and the headpads can be swapped out with new SR-207 replacements.  Simply cleaning the old ones in some soap and water will also do wonders to them.

Many thanks for the reply.  My earpads are in good shape.  I was not aware that the SR-207 replacements for the head pads are interchangeable. Thanks for that.  Any idea where I can access some new head bands? One of mine has been repaired but with only medium success. Thanks agin very much.

Many thanks for the source for the HEADPADS and EARPADS. If you have any ideas about HEADBANDS I would be most grateful.

The headbands are all gone and have been for a long time.  Only way to get replacements is to find a used headphone and take the arc from there.  Lambda, Gamma or Sigma all had the same/similar arc.

Many thanks for the information.  I'll keep an eye open for "for parts only" units in the for sale area.  Also, thanks to spaceace1014 for his  help,  Cheers.

spaceace1014.........Unfortunately, the seller will not ship outside conusa (I'm in Toronto) and cannot be contacted.  Nevertheless I am grateful for your suggestion.

I'm a new member on this site.  Do you know where I can buy replacement diaphragms for the Stax SR Sigma Pro headphones?  I believe I could install them myself.  Thanks for your help.

You can't get an exact replacement from Stax - the drivers are the same as the Stax Lambda Signature, which ceased production many years ago (they were introduced in 1987). You can replace the driver with a driver from any of the Lambda high bias series up to the 202/303/404 series. The new X07 series won't fit unless the drivers are glued together.

It's also very tricky to install drivers in the Sigma frame.  There is no margin of error at all.

Is it possible to buy low bias stators for my Sigma non-pro bias?  I would like to be able to continue using the energizer as it works with my hi-fi amps and lets me make the Sigmas sound the way I want by using the appropriate amp.
