I'm looking to sell my TTVJ Slim portable amp. I actually love it but I've come to realize that my critical listening is far more often at home rather than on the go. My Portable set up: Rockbox ipod 5.5g>fiio lod>TTVJ Slim>PFE 232's is currently better than my home setup: Laptop>Fiio E11>AKGK550. The TTVJ sounds so much nicer than the Fiio but what I really want to try right now is a dedicated desktop DAC like the uDac or Dragonfly. Thus, For now I'm trying to part ways with my Slim for exactly $250 and reinvest that directly; (probably dragonfly on Amazon).
I bought the TTVJ last year for 350 directly from Todd's website and it is still under warranty for another year; regardless of owner. I emailed Todd to confirm this. I know this would go great with all of your gear. Its one of the only portables I know of that has a 0dB gain setting (ranging up to 20dB), meaning the gain in no way distorts a low impedance signal path leaving it very neutral and true to the phones and source. What it does is emulate a smooth "analog" signature (which is Todd the "Vinyl" Junkie's mission in life) while also improving separation and maximizing clarity. If you really want "neutral/warm" its pretty much universal consensus that this is simply the best. I asked Todd about the new Apex Glacier Amp/Dac ($500) and he told me that the amp section of the Apex is virtually identical to the Slim with the added benefit of a state of the art Dac. Therefore, if you're using this in a portable setup (as its designed for) then you're essentially getting the exact same functionality as the Apex Glacier since you'd have to use it with your devices Dac anyway.
