I do hope the headband isn't a problem. The second headphone's headband was coming off...

Though I am an SS amp kind of guy, if I could afford the tube amp combo, it's a much better deal, as you're essentially getting the headphone for $100, that or the amp for 50% off, depending on how you look at it. eek.gif

Gotta love how he was able to differentiate something as subtle as finesse within five seconds of listening to the tube combo.

Yeah, I don't buy that at all, lol.

That is quite substantial.

I've been looking without success for specs on these phones.  Where did you find the specs?

Oh yes, I found the specs.  The specs are for the amp, not for the phones.

If there's an audible difference and if the listener has proper training, five seconds is more than enough to differentiate the sound.

On that noisy environment with an open back headphone? Sure.

Hence the training aspect. I'm not saying that he necessarily heard a real difference in this instance, just that it is possible within your brain's range of filtering out directional noise and discerning distortion. For all we know the amps weren't volume matched and the tube one was a decibel or two louder, thus explaining his enthused reaction. (I don't mean to imply that Kingsound would do that, props to them for setting up the comparison in the first place)

Being the first edition, I have an ominous feeling that they will launch a 2nd edition with major improvements.
It has happened with other entrants and might be repeated by Kingsound.

I don't know what "finesse" means in that video, but it wouldn't take more than 5 seconds to differentiate a DT-990 (open back) driven by a Schiit Valhalla (tube amp), and another one driven out of a Leckerton UHA-6 (solid state amp) under typical meet conditions and with certain songs.

I'm hoping these headphones become available for demo @ T.H.E. Show.

It took me all of 1 second to tell that Beats have more wool in their bass reproduction than all of Australia and New Zealand combined.
