V-Moda M80's Comfort Questions

Thread Starter

I am looking for a new pair of portable headphones and would like advice on what ones to get.

My price range is $200 max and i require sound quality, durability, light weight and portable.

How tight is the head on the V-Moda M-80s? Compared to either the Sennhesier 215 (i think there around the same as the audio technica M-50s in comfort wise so if anyone has tried them please let me know about the comfort) or the PSB M4U2s.

I am considering getting the V-Moda M80 i just worry about how tight the headband is. I tried the PSB M4U2s and noticed marginal clamping on my head which would be uncomfortable for hours.. how would the V-Moda M80 headband tightness compare to these? or the Sol Republic Ultra v12s?

Kind Regards.

Thanks in advanced for advice.

Update: i purchased the v-moda m-80's and returned them because i found they clamped my head extremely tight and were uncomfortable. Thank you all the people in the thread that helped me

I can throw in my two cents for V-Moda M-80s.

Pretty top-notch build quality, and portability is decent too. I can't tell you many specifics about sound quality (because I suck at it), but I can tell you they sound fine.

Sorry, I don't really have much to say there. I'm more of an IEM guy, so I don't have any of the other headphone's you've listed. The only two headphones I've ever had were the M-80s and some M-50s, and I like them both.

How would the sound quality be compared to the M-50?

I'd definitely give an edge to the M-80. The M-50s are good, but I just found them to sound a bit more flat. However, the M-50s definitely had a lot more bass quantity (which is something I value a lot). The M-80s just didn't extend as far.

Like I said, I kinda suck at giving the details. Both are very comfortable, but I'd say the M-50 wins, just because it's over-ear.

If I could only have one, I'd probably end up going for the M-80. They're a lot more portable, better looking, and have a better overall sound quality. I'm just a bass head, so I'm partial to the M-50s. You really couldn't go wrong with either of these.

Thank you for the reply. How tight is the headband on the M-80? i noticed some of the headphones clamp my head quiet tightly. (i have the sennheiser 215 and use it on about 3 clicks which is comfortable (i think they are similar to you M-50s)) Is the M-80s headband about the same 'tightness' of the M-50s?

I'd say there isn't much of a difference comfort-wise. I found the M-80s uncomfortable for the first few hours of use, but as I used them more, they become extremely comfortable. I don't notice them at all on my head. Same with the M-50s though.

I don't think you'd have any comfort issues with the M-80s. I was concerned when I first got them--believe me, it gets better.
