I believe these two CIEMS have the same 'set-up'. Is the Um Miracle worth the £150 extra?
It's on not like one of them is gonna be better than the other in every way.
Without knowing what sound-signature you're looking for or what genres you mainly listen to it's pretty much impossible to help you.
Even if I had heard both of them and told you "Miracle is the best", the next guy to reply might find the V6 more to his taste. Sound is subjective.
Staal, thanks for your input. I managed to demo the 1964 V6 and also the UM Merlin (unfortunately the Miracle was not available) I preferred the overall sound signature of the 1964 V6, but I couldn't get a very good seal with either. I was told that the UM Miracle was 'better in every way' by the store manager. Considering the extra £150 I wondered whether, generally, the UM Miracle is considered a better purchase.
I listen to a wide variety of genres from Metal to Classical, so I'd ideally like a CIEM which can work across the full spectrum of genres. If I were to lean to one though it would be rock music. I'll power the headphones with an iPod initially, but I'm keen to have a look at the Colorfly C3 as an alternative. Seal is important to me, I've had my impressions done, so fingers crossed these fit well. I currently have some IE8's and Grado 225's I like the soundstage of the IE8'S but prefer the Grado sound overall. Sorry that I cannot use any more technical jargon, I'm new to the complex world of CIEMS and I'm just hoping to make a good choice in the headphones I purchase.
He's probably making more money from the Miracle then.
You won't go wrong with either, that's for sure. Especially coming from the IE8 and 225s. I'm not even sure if anyone owns both so you'll probably have a hard time finding a proper comparison of the two.
I think the best you can do is read through the appreciation threads of the Miracle and the V6 and read up on peoples impressions. I've never heard the Miracle, but I never thought it would be ideal for metal or energetic rock. I could be wrong though.
Thanks Staal, yes, I was dubious, when he said 'the Miracle is just better.'
I feel like I've read every review/opinion on the web, frankly, as you said, headphones will always be subjective, and I doubt I'd be disappointed with either.
If anyone else owns either of these, I'd really appreciate any input you have on the criteria specified above.
