Better DAP or Portable Amp?

Hi Guys,

 

I'm from Hong Kong, new here (been a lurker for a few years). So please forgive my stupid question.

 

I'm currently using Iphone 5 and a iPod Classic 160G as my main portable source.

 

Westone 4R, Shure SE535 and AKG 495NC as my listening gear.

 

Most of my music are ripped in lame mp3 -0 variable bitrate and Apple 256kps AAC file.

 

I want to upgrade but struggling if I should go with a better DAP or a Amp to use with my iPhone and iPod.

 

1. Does iBasso HDP R10 is a better choice than adding a Amp like Sony PHA-1?

 

2. I know my AKG 495NC already have a built in amp, does adding a portable amp will ruin the sound (double ampping? )

 

3. How about upgrade the ear phone to something like AKG K3003i? 

 

my main question is, which route will give me more noticiable feeling of upgrade?

one more thing. My budget of upgrade is around USD1,000.
