STAX SR-007a squealing

I hear squealing from one of my drivers in my SR-007a.  Anytime I plug it into my BHSE I hear it even if my other equipment is off.   Can I solve this problem without sending in the phones to Japan?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

dust or funny voltage spikes from the amp. dust seems the likely problem.

check the stax thread in the high end forum with search "squeal", you find lots of info. sorry to hear of the problem, you have my sympathy

Thanks.  I solved the problem based on your advice.   I took off the earpad and there was some lint from the earpad that fell on to the drivers.

 

I brushed it off gently using a very delicate makeup brush and -- wow-- perfect.
