I'm good but could you describe this bias you speak of? I have no opinion on the sound of these what so ever. Perhaps you're biased to A/Bs or the process would be inconsequential. It was rather specific. It's all in the perspective.

Yes, I did. With same headphones same song etc. DX100 and ak100 even though I have sold them, but I still can audition them at my local audio store. Had the dx100 for couple months. DX100 and tera direct comparison... tera has better realism, more clarity, and maybe a more tube like sound quality, while dx100 has more power so subbass is better and more digital sounding to my ears.

Tera with portable amp is surprisingly good..........!! all aspect (subbass, highs, soundstage, clarity) triumphs against dx100 with the same portable amp setup and from direct LO. I would think of tera as a very good source signal although power is lacking compared to dx100. Downside is you must be ready with the consequence of having no screen, especially when you have a huge song library like I do, folder management will be a little bit tricky ;p

As for ak100 it does look nice. .. Small, brushed metal, but SQ is not to my liking.

I really do like the PortaPros, and for the price they are truly giant killers.   But there's simply no way I will transcode files only because a player with no UI can only play wav files.

Sorry, everyone says it has no UI. That's absurd. It has a User Interface.....just not a Graphical User Interface. If their were a DAP out there with no User interface at all then I wouldn't be interested in it either, it would literally be a brick. 

 

 

OK, I'll revise my statement.  Having no GUI makes this player absolutely useless for me, and frankly I'm amazed that ANYONE would even consider this player.

 

But different strokes for different folks, so long as they're happy, that's all that matters.  It's their money after all.

When you commute every day not having to look away from the road is a nice feature. being able to put it in your pocket is great. I love my Tera, I recommend it to anyone that can be willing to compromise on the screen. Obviously this player isn't for you.

 

And I have an ultimate setup of a Tera Player and CIEM's that allow me to take my portable high-end rig anywhere I go without sacrificing on any element of the rig so it fits with whatever I am carrying.

But you can have buttons and a screen. It's not an either/or. You can even advance songs with an the right earphone cable on an Iphone without looking at it and I agree buttons are nice but plenty of DAPs have them and screens. These are rationalizations. If it measures bass roll off, we'll hear something about how it's good for how often IEMs are bass heavy anyway etc. I bet it does sound great but limitations and compromises are just that. Whether the trade offs are acceptable or even preferred by an individual is personal but they aren't to be confused with advantages.

Trust me....It sounds wonderful. Any compromises were made to the sound as to pair it well with the PortaPro's and to give a less fatiguing sound signature so one can use it all day.

rwak100 for me. Just ordered one today.

 

Will be pairing it with my MKIIIB running fitear 334s and at home my HE-500.

 

Main reason for picking the RWAK100 was the 160gb of space and adding obviously more with the SD slots. 

2nd reason was looks and size.

3rd reason was it supports many formats.

4th battery life. I fly from asia to the US a couple times a month and I need something that has a decent battery life. 

 

Actually just switched from using one of my i-devices and cypher solo to this solution because I'm running out of space on my idevices and I didn't want to use up the battery life on my phones.
