I suggest getting the Pro 550's if your looking at a all-arounder.

 

My friend bought the HFI 780's and we compared them to my Pro 550's and the Pro 550's won as the best overall headphones hands down. He returned the 780's and bought a pair of 550 after :)

Last minute bump, i'll be ordering them in a couple of hours.

 

I'm interested in the HFI-2400 and the PRO 550, has somebody tried both? I was also interested in the HFI-680 BUT it seems like no many people got them, I would like to hear thoughts on how they compare, especially on gaming performance.

I've already read that, kinda nice review, the thing is, i'm looking for some decent all-rounders, they must be good/very good for gaming and good/very good for music and movies, especially (butnot only) electronic music.

I need some feedback, especially if someone has tried the PRO-550, the HFI-680 and the HFI-2400. Have you tried any of them? Thanks a lot for your reply. beerchug.gif

I had both for some month in paralel. Sold the 2400 then because I went a different route. I still have the 550 and it is my pc standard can. The 2400 had a little more recessed mids but both where just fine for all kind of sounds I used them for. The 550 comes with the pro case, that is very handy and a second set of speed switch earpads. Both share the same built one is open, one is closed. Due to being closed and having the case the 550 is more universal. You cannot go wrong chosing it. And the localisation in music movies and games is equal on both. Just a slightly different presentation.

Nice question... hahaha this was one of the hardest decisions of my life, I ended up ordering a pair of PRO 550 from amazon, they should arrive to Mexico (where I live) in one or two weeks. This wait is going to kill me.

Bass + Soundstage top priority around $150 = Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro.

 

In my experience the Ultrasones are a bit lacking in the soundstage department.

 

Edit: I should clarify... My Ultrasone PRO 750s (new grey/black version with s-logic plus) are a bit lacking in soundstage IMO. Other models might do better, particularly the open back ones, and YMMV. That said, there are a whole lot of closed back headphones out there that have much narrower soundstages than the PRO 750. I agree that in that respect they're above average.

Sony MDRMA900 crush my other two headphones for comfort (Byer DT990 and Denon D5k). Sound is a tad dry but very open (70mm drivers). Cheap looking and zero isolation. But feather-light.
