Thinking of upgrading my Xonar DX

Hey guys, I was looking to upgrade my sound and I thought the easiest thing would be to upgrade my sound card. I currently have a Xonar DX, which I love for what it's worth, but I was thinking of getting the HRT Streamer II based on all the good reviews. So my question is this: Can anyone tell me how noticable the difference would be?

My equipment is the following: Xonar DX -> Yamaha RX-397 -> Polkaudio RTi A3's

Thanks for your help.

Do you have any noise issues with the Xonar (interference while moving the mouse or other activity, etc.) ? If it is perfectly silent when no music is playing, then there is not much point switching to the HRT (which even has worse specs, although not to an extent to make an audible difference anyway), and you would also lose the features of the sound card. If you do have computer noise problems with the card (some people do, others do not), then the HRT will fix those, as not only is it external, but it is also isolated from the ground of the PC, unlike many cheap USB DACs.

Thanks for your answer.

I do not have any issues with my Xonar DX. I'm merely looking for a sound upgrade, not replacing a faulty sound card. wink.gif

Is there anything that you would recommend? My budget is around 200€.

I think it would be more of a side-grade than an upgrade.
