I have an old pair of Grado SR60 (without the i) and last year bought the SR325iS and upgraded the ear pads to the G-Cush. I kept on changing between the G-Cush and the stock L-Cush but didn't like both. Then I experimented by using my SR60 flat pads on them and just loved it. Weird. This was like running a Ferrari on skinny tires. It shouldn't work. But it did.

How about cutting the S-cushion?

I have read about this quarter-modding but I'm loathe to test that on my sr60 flat pads as the new flat pads are not as soft. Maybe I should quarter-mod my sennheiser HD414 pads instead.

Not as soft is easier to cut. I cut mine using free hand with a thin sharp scissors. I did not do the quarter cut but use the original hole as guild to cut similar size (like donut). That's why the perfect hole and basically I have created a flat pad with a s-cushion. Sound wise, I don't hear a difference between this and the L-cushion but more comfortable. The s-cushion before cut is less clear than the L-cushion probably due to the extra foam blocking the driver.

Good suggestion. It's a pity the L-Cush are so uncomfortable. The G-Cush is way too big even for my big head. On my Beyerdynamic DT880 and Philips Fidelio X1, I have them at maximum size and they just fit. Only my HD600 and Denon D2000 for example do I not need to use maximum size.

Hello again,

Much as I adore my 325, I can't stand the S-Cush, L-Cush or G-Cush. I like the size of the G-Cush but it's itchy and easily slips off the back of my head. I put the S-Cush on the 325 and attach onto it a Beyerdynamic velour earpad. It's now the same size as a G-Cush but comfortable and stays on the head. The S-Cush pushes onto the Beyerdynamic earpad via a 2mm plastic disc, like a CD but custom made with an outer diameter of 99 mm and an inner diameter of 65 mm. The S-Cush also has the quarter mod done. Bliss
