The MDR-XB300 are a funny coloured sound with muddy ass bass. 

You are better off with the 2012 XB200's as I found they still sucked but far less.

What? Best Buy carries official Sony products and I listened to a lot of headphones with my own source while my parents were busy upgrading their cell phones. The SC Aviators, VModa M-80, and even the SC Hesh sounded much better than either the XB-300 or 500. The 300 was by far the worst sounding headphone there. Maybe not worse than the Beats, but I couldn't test those with my own music so it's not fair to make comparisons.
