The Temporary Swap/Comparison Thread

There are always some earphones I'm interested in hearing without buying first. I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same. There is a for sale/trade section but this would be slightly different. I'm not sure if this is an acceptable idea or not, but I'm open to input. I know people sometimes loan out earphones to some of the better known reviewers and such.

 

Basically the idea for this thread is this: Person X owns the W3's. Person Y owns the GR07's. The person who owns the GR07's wants to hear the W3's. The person who owns the W3's wants to hear the GR07's. They arrange for a temporary swap - something like keep either one IEM or both for a few days, depending upon if the people are comfortable not having a certain IEM for a little while (which makes comparisons much easier)

 

I think it would be cool if this got started. Of course people should always be careful who they are trading with and only deal with people they feel confident doing a temporary swap with. Anyway, if people are interested then great. If not, that's cool too. The mods are free to delete this if they don't like it here. I'd rather it be deleted than moved to FS/Trade which I think would really diminish the usefulness of a thread such as this.

Hm. I quite honestly like that idea. It would certainly help me make more purchases in the audiophile world. Im one of those people that gets all caught up in research and i tend to research for months before buying an Iem or headphone. Simply because i wanna find what i want and dont want to get something i wont like. But i think a loan or swap would be great. quite honestly i'd even give up some money just for a test drive. pay for the shipping and add a little bit. I think itd be worth it in the long run. or even like a "hey, ill give you this till i get your stuff back" kind of thing. so many possibilities! i honestly think its a great idea. again. you just gotta be careful about who you do things with.

Yeah, I agree. Hopefully more people show some interest! I think it could be a great resource for the community.

I've done this with a few members of Head-Fi and it's definitely a good experience. I suppose it's much easier for IEMs than for full-sized headphones, but I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Well, I guess I might as well try to get it started:

 

Earphones I have that I will do a loan/temp trade with: Westone 3 Gold, RE0.

Earphones I am interested in trying: IE80, GR07, ER4P, SM3, and maybe a few others.

Not interested in trying any I have previously owned.

This is a great idea.. I currently have the Sony xb90ex, vsonic gr04 and will shortly have the jvc fxd70s.. I'm pretty much interested in hearing any other IEM's I haven't heard which are a decent amount of them so I'm open to whatever.. Just pm me and then we can update the thread afterwards =)

Oh snap! i am certainly going to keep an eye on this thread! Also, i'd love to give some stuff a try. But i dont exactly have any to loan in return. I'm kind of a poor college student. But hey, if anyone wants to loan me some, i'd be happy to oblige! im just trying to get out there and find some stuff i like! thanks!

Fantastic idea, I am currently doing similar thing with a fellow Australian Head-Fier, and perhaps at this stage I would prefer to swap with fellow Australians, as the further the distance, the bigger the risk I have to shoulder, not to mention the cost of registered/tracking postage
