Do most phones support ALAC?

I'm trying to choose between ALAC and FLAC, I've heard that FLAC is supported by more devices but ALAC can save quite a bit of space. Is ALAC supported on phones e.g. HTC One X?

Don't know about the stock music player for HTC but poweramp which is what I use supports ALAC

on my xperia, nope it doesn't, ALAC is a standard for apple products so I doubt android will support it natively.

there are a few really good music players out there so check them out.

Those numbers look completely off. Encode your own tracks to ALAC and FLAC (-8 or even -5) and see for yourself.

Skamp is correct. That flac is wav size so it may be somethng called 'uncompressed flac' and not representative of normal flac. Size difference between different compression ratios of lossless codecs amounts to less than 10% and flac is one of the more effecient ones
