Yeah, hate is such a strong word... loath would probably fit better... tongue.gif  All kidding aside I just never feel the need to use a HE90 when I have one here, same goes for the 009.  Too much color for my tastes.  My current HE90 with Stax drivers is a very different story though as it is much more balanced over all and has an actual soundstage. 

 

As for the amp, yeah there are three very different versions as they tried to make it good.  Best way to check are the anode resistors for the ECL86 pentode section.  If yours isn't 47K then it is the wrong version with 4K7 being especially bad.

Yeah me too. Keep forgeting I've got one lying around... Tripped over it the other day n stubbed me toe on the stupid amp.. grrrr  Ended up throwing it in the back yard. Much prefer the HE500's.

He found it at a garage sale.  He could only afford the Orpheus rig ($50) or the lost Van Gogh sketch ($20)  He chose the Orpheus.

Disagree on the scotch, agree with the headphones. What's in the circle though? I can name about 10 different single malts that come to mind immediately that are better than glenlivet 18.

Many people are fooled by Beats because they are not educated listeners, so I am sure my friends and I are being fooled by the Glenlivet 18.

 

No doubt, we are not experienced tasters.  We had Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, and Macallan.

 

Open to suggestions.
