CARY AUDIO HH-1 Headphone Amplifier

 

The HH-1 is a hybrid design, offering the best performance of both tube and solid-state circuits where they can be utilized to their greatest advantage. 

With upgraded K&K Audio attenuator and EAT ECC88 Tubes - please refer to photo's. Upgrades carried out by Drew Baird. Purchased new from Moon Audio in August 2012. Approximately 30 hours usage, so barely used and in pristine condition. Cost $2145 with upgrades, which is £1,330 GBP. Selling as transitioning into computer audio and raising funds to buy a music server.

The new HH-1 headphone amplifier from Cary Audio is an all-new hybrid design, featuring a tube input stage feeding a single-ended MOSFET output stage.  These MOSFETs were chosen as they have sonic characteristics very similar to tubes, and the entire amplifier operates fully in class-A at all output levels. Its single-ended design is patterned after our acclaimed CAD-300SEI integrated amplifier for superbly realistic sound. It is extremely simple to connect and operate, featuring a pair of RCA input jacks and a loop-through output pair, a power switch and a volume control. 

 

Top quality parts are mounted on a heavy gauge fiberglass circuit board, and only two stages of amplification are used for the shortest possible signal path. A power transformer, rated at three times what is required for the amplifier’s design, feeds a fully regulated discrete power supply for the best sound quality. It is designed to drive headphones with an impedance between 30 and 600 ohms. A 30-second muting circuit prevents any annoying pops and clicks when turning on the HH-1 headphone amplifier, and ensures that all circuits are fully stabilized before each listening session.

Yet another price reduction to £875. Buy and see why one reviewer wrote "The HH-1 gives you 75% of the EAR HP4 performance for 25% of the cost". I'd say that the Moon Audio upgrades add another 10% to the amplifiers sound.

Yet another price reduction of £15 to £860. The HH-1 is now over 33% cheaper than purchasing new. So grab a bargain and enjoy sonic bliss.
