That's more than fair.

Same, but it's certainly a fair measure.

It's more than fair. Justin needs to be able to trust people who have invested some time into this hobby. Anyone can make an account and sit on it, and just sign up for these demos. That's all good and all, but I would need the piece of mind if I was him.

I agree it's fair.  I'm just disappointed in that all it takes is one person to mess it up for everyone else.

As far as level of investment into this hobby, I'm from the DIY side so I'm more that just someone who has made an account and sat on it for a while.  I'm listening to a Beta 22 with a Gamma 2 DAC that I've spent the past year building as I write this post.  I also made a sizable investment in good soldering equipment and tools for this project since I had none to begin with.  I'm still working on the casing for it but the hardware is fully functional.

That said, I still think it's a great thing that Justin is doing for the community and I hope it can keep going.

Head-fi membership length, post count (contribution/time invested in head-fi), and trader feedback (the most indicative of an honest head-fi member) all paint a picture as to whether a head-fi member is can be trusted.

It's a shame some scumbag has to ruin it for everyone; however, I would like to reinforce MLE's point that the demos do work.  Personally, I would never of gotten the LCD-2 had it not been for the demo, as I never would of had an opportunity to hear them.  It looks like this is the case for a couple of other demo recipients as well.

Also, I liked the stax so much during my demo with it that I will for sure get it in the future (if I had the funds I would of bought it by now).   And of course my business will be going to Justin who was generous enough to provide the demo in the first place and is great to do business with.

If Justin had the Kingsound stat setups, I wouldve given him my business, for sure.

I think I shouldve signed up for the TH-600 demo, because if the KS stats don't measure up, the TH600 might be my other future prospect.

I think moving forward, you should only send demos out to people with a lot of positive feedback and/or has been a frequent/long time/active user.

The demos work. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have bought the LCD2s or been so interested in electrostatics after the SR407.

Exactly, same here! Bought the Rosewoods I demoed and have been looking forward to he Stax (Next on the list...) and Fostex. If not for him I'd never have a chance to hear any of those headphones.

This is stupid... Very stupid. Hopefully the person responsible will realize what their actions are causing to all sides and gets their S#%* together

Thanks,

D

The membership limit is fair, definitely. I really hate that people are screwing you around like this, Justin. That said, good luck to those of you who signed up for the Fostex demo -- I just pulled out myself as I'm gearing up for a move and don't want to be unreliable. Justin sold me on a Stax unit which I'll be buying when I'm ... not broke, haha.

Thanks again for the opportunities and to whoever is screwing this up: you suck.

I got a bit more aggressive last night, and he called me and admitted that he lied about having sent payment.  he said he would send the headphones back, and today i received a tracking #, so in a couple days I will receive the LCD-2 and be able to inspect it

Excellent news!

Still sucks that you had to take it there.  I'll admit that when I first heard about this program I was very skeptical.  Who would loan out $1k+ headphones to complete strangers?  Once I started reading these threads and seeing that people were actually passing them around I was amazed.  Hope things work out justin.

Most people are honest and appreciate the opportunity so clearly 99% of us weren't going to screw up this chance because no one else is doing anything like this.

Thanks,
