Amp/DAC with spdif/optical for @ $200 - Page 2

Also a reason why I preferred the iBasso, and it comes with all the cables you need. I got a call from DHL today saying they will come deliver it tomorrow, completely off-topic but they have a way better service than UPS!

for me I hope the volume control does not control the line out as I already have a separate volume control for my 2.1

FYI The line-out is not affected by the volume control or gain switch.

But more important: I really really really love it!

The D12 gives more detail to my music, and it seems more detailed. I have the impression that I can more easily distinguish the different instruments in a track and my music feels more alive.

The only negative point I could find is the lack of a manual. Especially regarding opamp rolling and all that.

Saw that one and the D12 about the same price point, Maverick Tube Magic D1 is about $230.

Maverick Tube Magic D1 for sure if your going the desktop amp route or an O2/ODAC

I'm not sure what the necro policy is on this board, so excuse me in advance if this is frowned upon.  But this thread asks the same question I'm wondering.  Like the OP, I want a desktop DAC and Amp with an optical in (not USB) so I can use my computer's soundcard as the DSP.  I'd have 2.1 speakers hooked up to my line-out on the sound card.

The options discussed in this thread are all still around, but I was wondering if anything new has come to light.  The Tubemagic seems to have some QA issues, based on the thread here.  The D12 seems like a good option, but I wonder if it can be plugged into the USB port for power without being a USB DAC.  The Leckerton MK2 seems to be pretty comparable to the iBasso.  I'm afraid of the blatantly Chinese units... should I be?

As far as I can tell, the O2+DAC doesn't have optical in, either the combo or the separate units.
