Dude you will complete the visual pimping by getting the clear es7 protectors by bestskinsever.
I posted it way in beginning of thread.
Then sound mod if you dare!

But those esw9 pads really improve sound as they also do to the es10.

Damn they sure look good! I'll have to wait on them until i get more money to spend on $40 earpads.

How do they change the sound? Do they add more treble?

I might go ahead and get the protectors but as for the sound mod, I'm too chicken.  Plus I love the vocals of this headphone and I don't think I want to touch that.

I can't really tell if it adds treble.  For me the sound is more intimate with the ESW9 pads and the stage becoming a little narrower.  The difference isn't all that huge not to give it a go with these pads.

parts@atus.com

Someone from AT will reply back if you use that email address.  I believe the item is shipped out of Ohio.  Mine shipped on Monday and arrived to me on Thursday.  Total price with shipping came to $40.26

The ones that a couple of us ordered through AT US are genuine leather pads for the ESW9A.

Ordered the ES700's from Rakuten a second ago! I'd also like to order the ESW9a pads. Anyone know if the are available in Europe or do I have to contact parts@atus.com?

Are ESW9A pads different from ESW9 pads? Because if not, look 2 posts up.

Official Audio Technica ESW9 and ESW9A pads are the same, but they consist of stitched genuine leather, not the cheap velour in that ebay link (Note: A pad that can be fitted to the ESW9 isn't the same thing as an ESW9 pad). The only set on ebay that appears to be genuine is this one for over $60 shipped. Ordering from parts@atus.com is clearly the better deal, but I'm not sure they ship outside the US (I'd think not, considering they're Audio Technica's US distributor). esmBOS, you could try writing to an email address on the Audio Technica Europe Contacts or Distributors pages to see if they can direct you to a European source for replacement parts like earpads.

The Ebay description does say "Not original items", but I didn't know the real ones aren't even velour blink.gif

I must admit, I do prefer velours over any type of leather. ATH-AD900X is so comfortable with its default velour pads!

HE-400 supposed to benefit from velours too, but I didn't install them yet. I might buy the velour non-genuine ESW9 pads to try on the JVC HA-S400 or ATH-ES700.

Hey guys I found an old thread on modding the es7 wich gave me idea on using cork with hole in middle as a possible next mod.
So I will be trying that on the es700 next and update my findings.

If anyone want to read here is the threadhttp://www.head-fi.org/t/425094/the-blu-tack-and-cotton-stuffing-ath-es7-mod-thread-56k-warning

Here is a pic of the protector:

That was months ago and they look brand new still.
No scuffs or scatches to worry about,
Only some fingerprints may show up against strong light.

Ok time for update sound mod!!
Warning, this mod will add clarity to the lower mids and bring out the signature audio technica sound with more lucid mids(!)..
And increased soundstage!!
Edit:
This is also the safest reversible mod!

First we open the unit..

Next, we cut a thin quarter inch slither of cork from a wine bottle cap!!:

Good now put aside and open unit :

Ok now let us look at the area where the metal cup is exposed on inside !:

Seee it!
That is the spot we will be placing the cork,
Wich has the best sound absorbtion properties,
And it fits perfectly in that spot!!:

Now carefully close it all back up!
Remember to place yelow fiberglass back the same way it was!
Edit: Also good idea to route wire away from center hole like in my last mod, if you have not done so already..
Look to last mod for wire placement but the black pad altering should be only done for bassheads as there is plenty of deep subbass with it.
I still recommend splitting the fiberglass in last mod to make fibeglass fatter.
All done!
Enjoy your new es700!
Resolution up another notch and now totally superior to any can in its category!
Time to mop the floor with all those other portable cans yet again!

EDIT * * EDIT * * EDIT**::

FULL CORK AND FELT MOD !!
MONSTER SOUND!:

More sonic impressions:

Immersive mids...
Clarity in the depth of space, deeper than wide.
Vocal space and placement much more vivid.

Highs are still refined yet now balanced and not the focus point .

Sweet spot is no longer the upper treble for female vocal.
Sweet spot now encompasses the whole midrange area.

Alot of activity and movement in depth of mids.
Easy vocal plaement and you can hear eq.changes.

Subsonic sounds like feet thumping and bass leaks from recording more clear .

background sounds also clear not veiled like other cans..
Tonality and texture to sound.

Highest detail retrieval in mids on a portable can this size so far compared to my past can history.

Time to compare to the ws99...
