Remember the esw9 is a different sonic signature.
The esw9 have a satisfying delicate laid back sound.
But yes for certain these 700 trounce the esw9 in bass, clarity, etc.
The 700 also takes on an esw9 trait in that they also have a delicacy in sound. A refined transparency.
I wish I had the 1350 & also es10 to compare.
Maybe in future, but I doubt they will satisfy like these, as they are my preferred signature lol.
They take the original es7 type signature sound of satisfying upfront mids to a mega-quality level.

Agreed and this sound for this price..I only wish they came with pads like the WS55. Lol. I suppose shelling out a bit extra for more comfort is not a bad thing. I ain't complaining.

You know I bet the ES500 sounds great too. It is too bad the price difference between the ES700 to the ES500 is not too far. Anyone want to take one for the team on the ES500?

I owned the ES-7 & ESW-9 and have the DT1350 now and they are much better for me for my preference. The new ES-700 would have to be really good.

In the m80 thread one poster said there was a sterile quality and so they preferred the m80 sound over the 1350
I love the m80 mids but knew from other cans they weren't detail monsters like the 1350 is said to be.
That being said,
I am telling you now these 700 make the m80 seem like Lil toys in size of sound, depth, realism, detail.

I still find the m80 mids addictive, but once I put these on, no contest..
these 700 are just immersive in larger sound.

Edit: just to clarify, the m80 are one of the very few cans I would definitely keep regardless,
as they do have a sound that is one of the most satisfying by hitting the sweet spot for musicality,
And I would keep them over any can I had before,
Which includes the esw9.

Very interesting. You know yesterday I created a Tenso account and added the ES-700 to my basket on amazon.jp and just bailed out on the checkout. Maybe I'll reconsider. They are pretty cheap ATM.

I am willing to bet you. You have never heard such a sound for the cost. Worth every cent and the WS55 pads for them for certain.

Ehh, I didn't realize until now that the WS55s are circumaural. That throws a bit of a wrench into the works for me as far as alternative ES700 pads go, as round-padded circumaurals never seem to fit me comfortably. I take it the ES700s go from being on-ear to around-the-ear with the WS55 pads, Dsnuts?

Looks like I may need to pony up for some ESW9/ESW10JPN pads if I end up committing to the ES700s, then...

They are not circumaural, unless you have really small ears.

Huh. Well that's good to hear. AT bills them as part of their "over ear" (vs. "on ear") line...so you can see how I'd be concerned. Would you say they're firmly supra-aural (for average-sized ears)? Not an ears-half-in-and-half-surrounded type of situation?

Ya I was gonna mention that. The WS55 pads have more surface and way plushier than the stock ES700 pads.. No comparison in comfort levels. It does kinda suck that you gotta shell out more cash for another pad but for the sound these things throw out. It is so very much worth it.

You can only guess which one is gonna give you much comfort over the other. WS55 pads I feel is a necessity.

They were most assuredly on-ear for me...although I don't know what would be considered average size ears. Perhaps Dsnuts could compare the WS55 pads to the S500 pads for you.....I traded my WS55s away so I can't be exactly sure how close in size they are.

Cool. Dsnuts, would you consider your ES700 with WS55 pads to still be supra-aural?

Yes.  But much more comfy supra aural.

I have a ES-700 heading my way which still can take ages. Customs here..

Anyhows I will rip off the earpads from my ESW11LTD and see if they fit on the ES700. If it works out then I should order a pair of leather HP-ESW10 earpads since those should fit as well then. Really I was just settling on the stock earpads until Dsnuts complained so badly about it. Well if I am going to change it for comfort I will change it good!

I didn't need to create any account as I just went here:
