They were slightly smaller than the esw9 cups that I used them for.
But should be fine regardless

 

Wow, thanks so much for this. I never knew that they made protectors for the chrome cups on the ES7. smile.gif

Just stumbled into this newest money pit of a thread, so my apologies if this has been answered earlier...but what's the source for the WS55 replacement pads in the US?

They are kinda spendy but I feel are worth every penny.. Look up WS55 pads on ebay. It is being sold out of Japan only it seems from seller buyfromjapan..The pads themselves are not bad around $22. But it cost around $12 for shipping from Japan. I looked everywhere and this vendor is the only one that sells these it seems.

 

So I did get my new WS55 pads in and the new out of box pair actually fit the ES700 even better than my pair I took off my WS55. The WS55 has somewhat of an oval shape to the cups and the WS55 pads on them was stretched out to fit that oval shape. The new WS55 pads are round instead of oval so they actually fit even better.  And I can confirm they are 100% exact same pads I have on my WS55.

Cool. Thanks for the info, Dsnuts. I see that seller also carries the leather ATH-ESW9 pads (albeit at a higher cost than the ones I got directly from AT a few years ago). I've liked them a lot on my ES7s...I wonder how they would fare on the ES700.

Those are spendy in deed. I suppose if you want the ultimate pads to go with your very nice ES700 that is an option but the WS55 will be every bit as comfy if not more comfy for less than half that price..Which pads to get will be up to you guys.. For me I am saving some cash to get the new CKN70 earphones.

It gives more room for the sound to get to yours as the actual diameter of the pads are wider than the stock pads. The driver being a bit bigger 42mm vs a 40mm driver a bit bigger wider pad actually helps the sound path to your ears. Not too much change in sound if at all but the comfort is so much better you can enjoy the sound much more if that makes sense..

Can anyone comment on the how much these cans will leak out sound?  I plan to be replacing these for portable use- which for the majority of the time would be in library settings/quiet study areas where leaky headphones would be frowned upon.

They don't leak out any sound. All metal cups ensure good isolation in or out. Better than most I should say. I am certain on medium volume nothing should leak out if you have them firmly on your ears.

Was looking at these, but the ws55i for the mic and volume controls since I have an iPhone.. I am dead stuck now. volume control is so convenient along with a mic for handsfree talking =_=


Anyone have both that can shed some light?
