The NEW ATH-ES700.. - Page 10

This baby is indeed rocksss !!

Now it becomes my most favourite portable headphone for under $300, for my taste I think I even dare to compare it directly to their big brother ESW9 and easily surpass the ES88.

The main point from this headphone for me is about the midrange, it's forward, sweet, and full bodied without sounds muddy. The treble is smoother than ES7 but still has nice sparkle. Overall I think this ES700 has balance sound with forward midrange.

Compare to ES10, definitely ES10 has bigger and more spacious sounding and also bassier. But if we talk about midrange only, I think ES700 is more enjoyable, especially for female voice :)

Better than the S500s?

Actually both sound wonderful..Both do trance extremely well.

Great mix by the way.

I agree 100%. The mids on these cans are something special.

I have been burning in my cans this would be my 2nd night of burn in approaching 40 hours. My goodness. The sound seems to get better and better as they loosen up..Now even better with my better pads..

For others that own these. If you guys want an easy upgrade in comfort. Look online for replacement WS55 pads.. It will give out 3X the comfort easily. I have them on as I type. The comfort factor for me went through the roof. Never realized how important comfort is to the overall enjoyment of listening to your music..

The synergy between my Z1060 and the ES700..It sounds so excellent. It is amazing this sound quality. These cans are quickly becoming my go to cans. They are so comfy now I can have them on for hours with no strain of any kind. The cans seem a bit loose but it ends up being just the right clamp every time now..

From the es10 thread it was stated that the lambskinsn esw9 earcushions are best so I am thinking it would be optimal for these as well.
The main issue is they are expensive.
Also have you considered the akg pads discussed in the s500 thread?

Slightly off topic but looking around I have noticed that there is not nothing on the ath ws99 cans.

Well The one guy that I knew had them was not too happy with them. I think he is trying to sell them on the sale forums. They seem to be getting mixed reviews online as well. Don't know if that is gonna be a good one. I can say the CKS1000 iems are fantastic and are completely worth the price..  Lambskin sounds expensive. These WS55 pads are not really cheap either but considering what they have done for me. It is one of those you don't know how more comfy a proper pad is until I tried it..

I am not one of those too finicky guys either so I was surprised just how uncomfy the stock pads felt after having them on for even 30 minutes..I can use them if I have to but the biggest bug in the whole thing was. This sound was so nice it kinda ruins the experience when you have to mess with the headphones so much. Now I have no issues. Problem solved. Now I just enjoy the sound. These things have nice isolation too. Them metal cups do a great job of blocking out noise..

What WS99 reviews?

The guy that is trying to sell his, specifically said he's never had anything other than IEMs. He will end up going back to IEMs because IEMs are all he likes.

I don't think he did a review. No one has yet. The ones I check online was on Amazon Japan. Google translate it.

The WS99 will be like $150 by April and the reviews will start rolling in. Damn you Japan making me wait.

I was wondering if the leather earpads of the ESW9, ESW10 and ESW11LTD would fit the ES700. I know a lot of the ATH pads are interchangeble. But I just wanted to be sure.

For that price might be worth a try. The recent AT cans they have made. I can't see how those are gonna be terrible for that price. You do have to be a fan of bass to enjoy them but if they got a similar tuning to the CKS1000 earphones. Those will sound awesome. I asked that guy that owned the WS99 what he didn't like about it. And he was saying the WS99 didn't have enough mid bass for his taste.

That just means they are probably sub bass heavy. That is not a bad thing in my book. Especially for a bass can.

It's down to $170 on Amazon JP. If it's sub bass heavy then it must be completely different than the WS55, which are the most comfortable over the ear headphones ever for me.

I'm hoping to have these by the weekend.  Another Ds recommendation.  The man hasn't failed me yet except for my bank account going negative.

I didn't even try the AKG pads because those are stiffer than the stock pads that are on these cans. After using the WS55 pads on here. I can't use any other pads. They have made the cans completely enjoyable for me. Thicker cushier and wider, exactly what these cans needed.

Did the sound actually changed after you swithed to the WS55 pads?

And for those overseas customers contemplating to jump in, it might be very fufilling to wait a little longer with the Japanese devalueing their Yen like crazy. You might get it a lot more cheaper in the not so distant future.
