Is that correct?

I'm pretty sure the D2000 or D5000 would be more similar. Also, the D1001 has more distortion according to the innerfidelity measurements/graphs.

The D2000 and D5000 were included in the graph above. Ok, I will check out innerfidelity review.

I have no idea if the 1000 sounds like the 7000?  But a lot of people say the HP700 has a very close sound. I had the HP700 awhile back and it was really good sounding.  Comfort was an issue for me so I gave them to my son, which he broke them shortly after.

I still say the D1000 is (WAS) the best sounding can under $150 hands down. It's still my go to can.

The Cal is very close in sound, but the Cal's slightly deeper cups and different cable make it sound a little different.

It has a looser Bass tho slightly deeper.  Everything else mids/highs are to close to call..  I notice the bass the most.

The 1000 just having less but tighter Bass.  You can see why the Cal is recommended a lot.  For the price it's really hard to beat, It just has a pleasing sound for not a lot of $.
