For Sale or Trade:
Benchmark DAC1 2 Ch. 192 kHz 24-bit for HE-500/400 etc...PRICE DROP!
Will Ship To: US
I have a Benchmark DAC1 that was originally purchased at Mercenary Audio. I bought it used from Guitar Center (I'm the second owner) It's in good condition showing just a little sign of gentle wear but fully functional with the same DAC and two (Count them two) Headphone amps that are in their new models.
This is the original model. It does not have USB only SPDIF,Coax and XLR in. I use a digital SPIDIF out from my macbook pro and it sounds absoloutley gorgeous powering LCD-2s, SHURE 1840'S AND HE-400s., I can also send a balanced out to a set of self powered speakers and control the volume from the DAC1 which is a really nice feature and not one found in a lot of DAC/Headphone amps in this price range. The sound is very big, crystal clear and three dimensional sound with plenty of power for hard to drive headphones. Mastering grade for sure.
I'm looking to trade for -
1. A good condition pair of HE-500's (or comparable quality headphones ...open to ideas)
2. A mint condition pair of HE-400's plus cash
3. Sell for $600 Cash. plus shipping...
I've listed this on ebay but i'd much rather it go to a fellow head-fi member so act quick if you want this as the auction closes sunday night.
(Cross Posting from the Components section Because I want to trade for headphones I thought that it might be appropriate to post here as well)
'The reference-quality Benchmark DAC1 boasts Benchmark's UltraLock technology to deliver 2-channel 24-bit 192-kHz audio digital-to-analog conversion. Designed for maximum transparency, the DAC1 is well suited for critical playback in studio control rooms and in mastering rooms.
A compact and rugged enclosure makes the Benchmark DAC1 converter an excellent choice for location recording, broadcast facilities, and mobile trucks. The internal power supply supports all international voltages and has generous margins for over and under voltage conditions. Two 1/4" headphone jacks are driven with Benchmark's new HPA2 headphone amplifier.
The high-current HPA2 amplifier is capable of driving a wide variety of headphone loads while achieving less than 0.0003% distortion under load. The gain control sets the output level of the headphone jacks. It can also be used to control the output level of the balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs. A rear-panel switch selects Variable or Calibrated output levels.'
