Question about Denon AH-D1100

It's totally true, I'm a big Denon fan and bought these right at release. In no time at all my fork snapped.  I baby my gear too.

The plastic is just so Brittle. I really liked the sound tho.  Too bad it's a decent set really!!!
 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember years ago members saying the D1001 (or CAL!) sounded MUCH better than the D1100 due to the bass being over-emphasized in the D1100.

Regardless, the CAL!, which is basically a D1001, is a fantastic headphone. You can also use the MarkL mods on the CAL! to make them sound even better!

You're correct sir, I own the Denon AH-D 1000, same driver as the CAL.   I did the MarkL But reversed it to stock. The biggest difference for me was I added a D2000 cable to them. I had a 4 foot cable on mine for Years but just got another D2000 cable in a trade today and not even 30 mins ago added it to my 1000's, pure magical sounds...

I took my old D2000 cable off and added it to these: That's right a $75 cable on a $17 set of cans...LMAO

Baby it and it'll be fine. Alternatives would be the Koss DJ100/TBSE and CAL.

The Hp700 Is fantastic, It is one of the under the radar sets. Check out the big compare post to those and the D7000.  They are called the baby D7000 for a reason.

Kinda ugly looking tho and the pads aren't deep enough, but that can be fixed.  Construction is rock solid tho.

The D1100 is not the greatest build quality, but it's not TERRIBLE either.  I'd say it's average.  It does look a bit classier then the new line of Denons tho...

The bass is a bit heavy at first on the D1100, but does break in nicely into the denon sound.

I used to EQ them with -10dB at 150Hz and -8dB at 250Hz.

if u have an ios device use the accudio app and turn it to what ever headphone you like... it is awesome.

keep in mind that HP700 are twice as expensive as D1100 are on amazon.

That's a tough call really. I had bad luck with my D1100.  The HP700 Has better build, better balance of sound.

The D1100 has much better comfort, and is Half the price.  If money is no option, HP700, but the D1100 is a great buy at 1/2 the price.

I think you'll be happy with either really.
