Besides being free, I'm getting introduced to some new music that I'll probably eventually end up buying.

Don't know of any links to free FLAC files myself, but if I find any I'll post them here.

Thanks for starting this thread!!

Edit: HDtracks has a free sampler that you can download in FLAC

Thanks, ejmcgee! Do you have a link to the free sampler at HDtracks?

Next up:

Soular Order - IV

This is a three song EP that seems to be quite popular here on the Music Forum. According to the tags, it is ambient electronic future garage, etc. And of course, it's available in free FLAC format. smile.gif

Listen to it or download it here:

Thanks! I've purchased lots of stuff from HDTracks, but I couldn't find the free sampler. smile.gif

EDIT: Link removed from quote. I recommend that folks navigate to the free sampler on their own.

I've purchased some stuff from there too, but before I bought anything I downloaded a free sampler from the column on the left where it says:

New to HDtracks? Learn and get a free download!

The link I posted above I found on another website, the dynacotubeaudio forum, and you'll need to log out of HDtracks before opening the link. It's a 13 track sampler and I'm trying to figure out how to download it now.

I'm having quite a bit of trouble with the free sampler. I think that link you posted is out of date, so I'd recommend others navigate to the free sampler without using that link.

EDIT:  Sorry about that, already was posted by OP!

Hi Rez downloads in FLAC and other formats

http://www.2l.no/

At top right of page click on "2L Brand Store" then go to  "Test Bench HD Audio Files"

Most of it is classical

Sorry 'bout that. The link was posted on the other site Dec 30, 2012, and I'm still having trouble trying to download it myself!

Here is what is on the current free sampler from HDtracks. I had some difficulty with the new download software their site uses. Anyway, for anyone who wants to download the free sampler, I recommend heading to their page at http://www.hdtracks.com and navigating to the sampler on your own. Just click where it says, "Learn and get a Free Download!"

How about a free FLAC Grateful Dead show?

I've been enjoying a concert recorded November 29, 1980 at the Alligator Alley Gym, at the University Of Florida.

Apparently this was recorded with two Beyer mics placed on poles near the soundboard, so it is an audience recording. I like it because it has a nice mix of crowd noise and the music. It may not be as clean as a soundboard recording, but there is just enough crowd noise to make it seem like you are there.

The full concert runs 2:52:11. To download the full concert in FLAC, click on the "Lossless zip" link on the left side of the page. Be forewarned, the download is 945 MB, but once it's finished, you'll have a lot of listening to do.

Here's the link:

Enjoy!

Hello, BPGideon. Welcome to Head-Fi! Sorry about your wallet... smile.gif

Thank you very much for the link! I already downloaded The Oh Hellos' album 'Through the Deep, Dark Valley' at the link you provided. From there, I also found their EP:

The EP is here:

Great stuff! I've already listened to the EP and some of the album and I'm really enjoying them! Thanks again for the link. biggrin.gif

Haha, already bought a set of M50s/le's and a modi. Just waiting on them to arrive now biggrin.gif. As for the Oh hello's, "Hello my old heart" is perhaps my favorite song from them. I'm glad other people enjoy them!

Congrats on your new gear. L3000.gif

FYI, when I got my M50's brand new, there was a big change with a little burn-in. It didn't take long, but they changed (improved!) a lot over the first 10 or 20 hours.
