I bought an ipod video 30gb the 5.5 model. I read everywhere that its the best ipod for sound. When I got it I put all my iTunes bought music on it 256 aac. When I play the music from it mostly heavy metal it sounds very distorted in the low end like its mixing with the low mids and sounds dirty. So I replaced the headphone jack today and it sounds the exact same. I compared it to my iPod touch 5th gen and the touch is wayyyyy cleaner but not as loud. I even turned down the 5.5 to volume match it to the touch and its still dirty sounding. I have both iPods eq set to rock and the sound check off, I'm also using the same headphones (tritton kunai gaming headphones) but the same result happens when I compared with different phones. I have no idea why a supposedly better source would be distorted. I thought maybe the 5.5 was meant to drive bigger more powerful headphones and that's why the touch drives simpler headphones better. Any input would be awesome thanks
