Awesome!!  Thanks again, purrin and anonymous benefactors!

I'm really psyched about this - it would be my first meet (if I can get in on it). Thanks for organizing!

For the first time, I just fired up the PS Audio PWD mkII (that I broke down and bought from @The Monkey...in excellent shape bigsmile_face.gif).

I plan on borrowing a powered, optical splitter from @jazzfan (thanks!) and to have an RCA switch so that I can easily A/B with the Benchmark.

I'll try to have this rig at the meet so that people will have 3 choices they can easily switch between to try and catch any differences:  wink_face.gif

  1. Listen to their iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Optical Out> Benchmark> Benchmark Amp> Modded HD800
  2. Listen to their iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Optical Out> Benchmark> Modded Super 7> Modded HD800
  3. Listen to their iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Optical Out> PWD mkII> Modded Super 7> Modded HD800

Meh, use it all the time.  Then again, I'll listen to ibuds and Yuin PK3's if the situation is right, so I may not be a good example...

Okay...I'll have to try to run iDevice > Pure i20 iPod Dock > digital coaxial (RCA) >both DACs

"Coaxial digital audio out (S/PDIF): Coaxial phono."

Really excited to go!  My only regret last year was not spending more time there!

I take you will be too busy to bring your Super 7?

Someone earlier mentioned bringing their Ed 8.  I would love it if they did -  have wanted to take a listen to those for quite some time. :)

@SJCJ, Actually I do plan on trying to set this up for comparison:

  1. Listen to your iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Digital Coaxial> Benchmark> Benchmark Amp> Modded HD800
  2. Listen to your iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Digital Coaxial> Benchmark> Modded Super 7> Modded HD800
  3. Listen to your iDevice/or my iPad> Dock/Digital Coaxial> PWD mkII> Modded Super 7> Modded HD800

To add another wrinkle, I can set up my *stock* Super 7 (and even running stock Tung Sols) next to CT's cap-rolled, tube-rolled Super 7.

And CEETEE -- I thought you said you weren't going down the rabbit hole of comparing DACs tongue_smile.gif

^Let's talk...many DAC comparos ARE really difficult.

BUT: maybe we can take one table to set-up a bigger station, whereby people can hear an even greater range of the Source> Super 7> HD800 combos?

At the 2012 Bay Area Meet, I tried to set-up an HD800 rig for comparing the Benchmark DAC1/Benchmark Amp to the DAC1/Apex Butte or Apex Arete or Apex Peak (with 7N7/6SN7).

Haven't had time to A/B my DAC1 against the PWDII (or compare the different Firmware revs/different digital inputs) but I am already enjoying the PWDII Sample Rate & Filter options that allow me to adjust for my mood or recordings.

This comparison between combos might be worthwhile to share, even during "meet conditions"...

I'm still crossing my fingers that an Audiologist/UE guys show up again.  I'm still kicking myself for missing out last time...

They offered some pretty good discounts again last year.
