For Sale:
FS: SR-009 + Cavalli Liquid Lightning (w/ Jena Labs XLR Cable) [OBO]

Will Ship To: CONUS

FIRST OF ALL. I swear to god if I hear any "you just got it" (its) I'm going to flip.

Secondly this is just an interest check at the moment to see if anyone would like to purchase the system as a whole.

Here's my dilemma...The (almost) wife is getting extremely frustrated with a few things about my spending habits lately.

1) She's frustrated with my headphone system in general. She can't listen to music with me and I tend to make her feel isolated when I listen to it. I feel bad about this but until recently we just couldn't make speakers work.

2) While it was her idea to invest in speakers she feels that my plan is going a bit "overboard" and I have a feeling an ultimatum will be given soon on either the headphones or the speakers. I love my headphones, but not being able to listen to music with people I care about is pretty frustrating to say the least.

3) I'm really trying to get to a point where we can just...listen. A point where we're both happy with the system and can just invest in gobs and gobs of music. I do realize the gear will never be completely over though.

Bottom line is this. Let me know if you're interested and we'll see where this ends up.

Included: (Cable is included due to the fact that no future plans beyond this rig contain XLR connectors)

Stax SR-009 Earspeakers ($5250 Retail)

Cavalli Liquid Lightning Amplifier ($4250 Retail)

Jena Labs Trio XLR Interconnects ($400 Retail)

All items would be packaged well (in original boxes) with all original accessories (and maybe a few extras). Whatever price we agree upon would include shipping. Keep in mind I'd ship it in 2 shipments totaling around $150 (with full insurance) [rough estimate].

Due to the fact this sale would be quite large I will only be accepting direct wire transfer, or a money order. I have plenty of feedback and am imbedded in the community here. If you're uncomfortable with the terms, don't make an offer, please.

There are tons of pictures in my profile of all these items, but you should know they're basically new.

----

Nothing is set in stone, many understand what an interest check is, but I'm extremely conflicted about this at the moment. It may all leave, but if I can convince the wife(ish) to let it stay, it will.

----

This is seeming more and more like a thing that might happen as day(s) go by. I will consider breaking up the system, just drop me a PM with an offer.

Edit: This is no longer an interest check. Officially for sale. Serious offers only. This priced a bit high to leave room for resonable negotiation. MAKE ME AN OFFER.

Hmmmm, I've been shopping for speakers myself, but maybe just maybe I'm interested in this instead.

I still haven't had the chance to listen to it.  Since I'm local, up for a loaner program to see if I fall in love with it?  I'm pretty happy with my hd800 setup, and to be honest I am tentative because it would almost certainly would mean a source upgrade, so no worries if you aren't up for it, I don't want to waste your time.  But I will say it falls just shy of the range I was looking to drop on a new set of floors, so it's tempting to see.

I'm not quite as trusting as Alex was with me. biggrin.gif Loaner probably won't happen but you're of course welcome to come over and listen as long as you like (and that offer is there whether you're buying or not).

Honestly 10k speakers would probably force a source upgrade, too. My planned 6k Harbeths already are making me think about it and I don't even have them yet. Lol

Like I said, no problem.  I don't know that I could really get to know any equipment away from home.  As I'm happy with my own stuff, or as happy as a gear nerd can be, I need to a/b it with my own to see if that kind of money feels worth it.  A new source is in the plans, as part of my speaker buy, but that total is around or shy of what I think you expect out of this combo.  I currently have a da11 for headphones and am not planning on using the same source for speakers.

Anyway, let me know if you change your mind.

If you're crazy about your SR-009s, go audition some electrostatic speakers - good ones like Quad, Soundlabs, Sanders.  They'll give you electrostatic goodness that you'll be able to share with her.  The Soundlabs in particular would be desirable for such an application since she'd get to hear all the treble too.  You also don't need to throw gobs of money at a source to enjoy any speaker...there are lots of vintage, non-FOTM DACs and CD players that are still excellent by any standard and quite reasonably priced on audiogon, etc.

I do love my 009s but I pretty much know what I want from speakers and the 2 are very different. I also think that most if what you mentioned is out of the range I'm looking for.

Also, this is officially for sale.
