Grado SR325IS, new to headphones, not at all happy with them. WT?

Hi i purchased a set of Grado sr325is cans for listening to music while studying, last year i bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 and begin listening to portable music again after many years of using a Approx $10k, pretty decent Mid-Fi stereo system at home. I thought that the IEM with the GS3 sound pretty damm good, so why are these Grados so flat and lifeless? I have powered them with my MacBook Pro Retina, GS3, and HDMI out from my PC to a Onkyo 5508 Processor. all sound about the same. I have the HiFi M8 on order to bypass the DAC and Amp in the GS3 and my IPad, will it help any or am i just expecting to much from headphones in general.

 

I have about 3 hours on them, will they get better?

 

would GS3 IEM sound > then sr325is.

Grado headphones all tend to have a similar sound, which is very direct, in-your-face, even raw, sounding like you are standing next to the musicians on the stage -- great for Rock guitar, but maybe not for other genres, esp if you are wanting a more airy, expansive sound.  And, their sound is not going to change that much after 100+ hours -- maybe a bit tighter bass, a hair smoother treble -- but the way they sound now is pretty much their sound signature.  You may get used to it over time, and even like it, but you may not.  Also, they are not at all what I would consider portable -- I use my MS-1i at home only.

 

One good thing is that if you decide to get rid of them, you can probably sell them on the Forum here for a good price.  Then you can continue on your quest for the IEM you like.

Flat is not a common description for them.

maybe i will have to get used to them, or pass them on to my wife.

 

if i think Grado sr325is are bland, ie. not much range, the artists voices seem to blend into everything else. For lack of a better adjitave just seem flat.

 

What could you suggest ?
